A 3 km stretch of white sandy beach along the south Goa coastline, Agonda Beach lies about 37 kms from the town of Margao. It is the next beach after Palolem while you are driving towards Panaji from South. One of the most picturesque beaches in Goa, Agonda is relatively desolate largely because of its distance from the main cities. The beach offers perfect isolation for nature lovers in search of true peace of mind.

The small and secluded cove of white sand at the Agonda beach in Goa is fringed with towering palm trees and casuarinas. A large hill lying to the south of the beach makes for an enchanting backdrop. Owing to the relatively low influx of tourists at Agonda, there are not many facilities available here; no beachfront stalls and only a few restaurants are located nearby.

The fishing village of Agonda is small and surrounded by almost 120 acres of forested land. The surroundings are peaceful and idyllic, the perfect place for beach lovers looking for complete isolation. At Agonda beach, you 'll just have the swaying palms, the spectacular beach, and the endless blue ocean before you.

For the really adventurous tourists, noting can beat the lure of hiring a tent and camping for a night or two, and listening to the crashing of sea waves. Agonda is also a great destination to explore on a day trip from Colva and Covelossim.

Excursions from Agonda Beach
The fort of Cabo de Rama, located near Agonda beach makes for a great excursion spot from Agonda. This secluded fort was named after Lord Rama, the central character from the legendary Hindu epic Ramayana. Local legends say that during Lord Rama's 12-year exile period, he had stayed here with his wife Sita. Cabo de Rama sports an intriguing atmosphere, whereby a sense of history and drama transports you back in time to the days of yore.

Access to Agonda Beach
Although Agonda beach is not among the most accessible beaches in Goa, yet a number of buses ply from Margao and Canacona and stop at Agonda. However, the best way to reach this beach is by scooter or motor bike.

Accommodations
You may stay at any of the few nearby hotels and resorts and visit Agonda. Not too many accommodations are available at Agonda itself.
